Passengers traveling between Patna, Lucknow, and Howrah are in for a treat! Indian Railways is all set to introduce a 16-coach Vande Bharat Express from Patna to Lucknow (UP) and Howrah (West Bengal), making travel faster, more comfortable, and more convenient.
Trial Run Before Official Launch
The new Vande Bharat trains will arrive in Patna soon, where a trial run will be conducted before they officially begin operations. Once the trials are successfully completed, these high-speed trains will start running on both routes.
Why the Increase in Coaches?
Given the high passenger demand on these routes, Indian Railways has decided to double the capacity by increasing the number of coaches from 8 to 16. This will ensure that more people can travel comfortably on these busy routes.
First Phase: Patna to Lucknow (UP)
- The first phase of the 16-coach Vande Bharat Express will run between Patna and Gomti Nagar, Lucknow.
- This train will connect the capitals of Bihar and Uttar Pradesh, making travel between the two states smoother.
- The train number for this route will be 22345/22346.
Second Phase: Patna to Howrah (West Bengal)
- In the second phase, another 16-coach Vande Bharat train will operate between Patna and Howrah.
- This train is expected to arrive in Patna soon for its trial run before the final launch.
What Happens to the 8-Coach Trains?
- The current 8-coach Vande Bharat trains running on these routes will be sent to Chennai once the new 16-coach trains start operating.
- The Patna-Howrah Vande Bharat (8-coach) was introduced on December 24, 2023.
- The Patna-Gomti Nagar Vande Bharat (8-coach) started its journey on March 12, 2023.
